Abendstimmung am Grevelingenmeer in Zeeland

Zeeland with the Bröker family

Between the North Sea and Grevelingenmeer

Two villages, two very different holiday homes and short journeys to the water. Our honest introduction to Schouwen-Duiveland.

Schouwen-Duiveland

Not all of Zeeland. Our particular corner.

Our houses are on Schouwen-Duiveland, between the open North Sea beach at Brouwersdam and the calmer Grevelingenmeer. Having these two very different waters so close together is what makes the area special to us.

This page starts with the overview. Specific routes, restaurant ideas and day plans are organised in the Scharendijke and Brouwershaven guides. That keeps planning clear and lets you read only what suits your house.

In brief

How do Scharendijke and Brouwershaven differ?

Scharendijke is especially convenient for both Grevelingenmeer and Brouwersdam and works well for families and water-sports enthusiasts. Brouwershaven is quieter and more historic; our house there sits directly beside a small waterway.

Do I need a car?

Many journeys to the water, village and restaurants work on foot or by bike. A car is useful for a large grocery shop and trips to Zierikzee, Renesse or Neeltje Jans.

Where are the specific recommendations?

Restaurants, beach ideas and day plans are grouped by place. Open the guide for the house you are considering or have already booked.
